Black Magic Darkness formed in 2012 amidst the stoney peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Generating sludgy, metal inspired riffs from within our stronghold nestled in The Valley of The WASP, a land riddled with ghost tales of madness surrounding Hunter S. Thompson and long lost freaks like the Dark Brothers. Cocaine fueled fantasies and fur coats set against one of the most beautiful backdrops known to man and somewhere out on the fringes of this landscape amid the dry shrieks of crows and the howl of the wind, we sacrifice our thunderous riffs onto the icy snowcaps.

With the band's debut concept album, "Cosmic Empire", BMD weaves spooky guitar lines, dark melodies, crushing riffs and intriguing lyrics as if King Diamond cuddled up with Johnny the Fox on a chilly alpine night sipping Tecate out of his favorite drinking horn and scribbling down the madness of the last few minutes of life while your brain survives and scrambles to sort the memories and fantasies into your own personal afterlife. Cosmic Empire follows the classic yet seemingly forgotten art of making a record that is a journey from beginning to end, an ebb and flow of ups and downs meant to be enjoyed as a whole. With classic influences ranging from Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy to more contemporary acts such as Mastodon and Baroness, Black Magic Darkness puts songs and melody above all else in their writing. And although it may hard to see our flag flying among these rocky peaks, we let the 90 mph winds carry our riffs through the twisting labyrinths of the valleys below and out into the void. I'm a little late to this party. I got lost along the way because I kept mistaking this for a Locrian album. I finally paid attention and discovered a fantastic doom album. Dark and heavy, just the way it should be. Reverb on the vocals remind me of Monolord. The Goon
